The EcoCentric is a weekly radio talk show focused on current environmental issues from the West Kootenay region of BC and beyond. The show features interviews with activists, experts, government and industry providing information and a variety of perspectives on environmental topics. Programs range in scope from deep ecology and conservation, climate change, food security, social justice, politics and more.
The EcoCentric is run by a team of four people who work with the West Kootenay EcoSociety, a non-profit environmental organization based in Nelson, BC.

Host Matt Lowe interviews local activist and longtime Jumbo Pass protector,KLinda Kivi, about her involvement in the recently erected blockade to prevent development in the Jumbo Pass area. KLinda talks about life on the blockade. Matt interviews Gregory Hemming from Nelson who is leading a sailing voyage around the Americas to raise awareness about climate change. Dr. Hemming is using art, beauty and breathing to reach people. The show wraps up with a critique of Nelson Mayor's unwillingness to work with the community on climate change.

Host Matt Lowe does what all the mainstream media should be doing and announces to the public the new Canadian climate change bill 377 that just received majority support in the House of Commons. This gives Canada the toughest legislation on the planet, but will the Conservative government refuse to follow through? Matt interviews Beatrice Olivastri of Friends of the Earth about their current supreme court hearings to force the federal government to meet Canada's Kyoto obligations. Matt talks about Nelson's terrific Commuter Challenge results.
