In this episode of the EcoCentric host, Lee-Ann Unger explores the topic of energy privatization in BC with an emphasis on private "run-of-river" hydro projects and work various groups from around BC are doing to challenge this policy shift and various private power projects. She speaks with John Calvert, Associate Professor of Public Policy at Simon Fraser University and author of Liquid Gold: Energy Privatization in BC; Damien Gillis, an Independent Documentary Filmmaker who has produced a series of min-documentary films with the Save Our Rivers Society; Gwen Barlee, Policy Director with the Western Canada Wilderness Committee, an environmental organization; Craig Williams, founder of IPP Watch.info, a website that maps proposed private "run-of-river" hydro projects in BC.

We cover the fact that democracy took a heavy blow when the Marijuana Party of Canada was titled as the “Radical Marijuana Party” on the ballots, apparently from an order from Ottawa. This certainly had an effect on people voting. Bob Marley again about the herb. We read from a Jack Ross book on Elven activists. We play a cut from the first TV interview that martin Luther King ever did and is an amazing summary of the struggle, for all. A cut from Ronny. Then a cut from the Canadian album Ghost dogs. The History Hour - Athens wins democracy, Canada wins a WWI battle
Today Jeanes is impassioned against the new film, "Passchendaele" now debuting in theatres and heavily advertises on TV and in newspaper four-page supplements. He is against what seems to be propaganda in the ads. Is the movie propaganda for war? Jeanes has not seen it, but the ads are surely a prop for rah-rah variety of cheap patriotism and stupid ideology that says war, battle, and victory, made Canada a proud, great nation. He then turns to the revolution in Athens created by the actions of the aristocrat Cleisthenes in 509 BCE. True democracy for male citizens in an Assembly was the revolutionary result of the reform of law and constitution in Athens. Jeanes refers to the work of three historians: Victor Hansen, Robin Fox, and Tom Holland, for his argument.
