When Lightning Strikes
On August 19th, in the early hours of the morning, a lightning strike effected our Pilot Point Tower on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake, interrupting radio transmitted on the 96.5fm channel. We wish to thank all those who were on site assisting in repairs and getting the tower back into operation. With the first call coming in from concerned listeners who wanted to help, to the last call confirming that Kootenay Co-op Radio was back on the air through 96.5fm, here at the station we feel the dedicated awareness of our listeners and thank them for being patient while repairs were made.
Special thanks go to Bob Carter of the East Shore Internet Society for being our first contact at the Pilot Point Tower, and going through all the extra efforts with his team toward getting the tower back and running safe and strong.
Further thanks go out to Rich Mooney the CBC senior tech for his support, & Michael Jukes for riding his motor bike in the rain up the mountain, and for his dedicated assistance.
And a huge thank you to the Kootenay Co-op Radio technical engineering team for the follow up repairs and being the essential core that keeps our broadcast signal strong and secure.
