Signal expansion takes many hours and years of volunteer initiative and membership support, KCR thanks all who have made signal expansion at KCR possible.
In February 2001, Kootenay Co-op Radio launched a campaign to expand our signal up Kootenay Lake and to the Slocan Valley.
KCR then purchased a new transmitter amplifier for our Nelson site, a radio link to get the signal to Crawford Bay, and a transmitter and antenna which have been installed at our tower at Crawford Bay.This installation is providing coverage to the East Shore of Kootenay Lake, the North Lake area, and areas back toward Nelson.
KCR partnered with the North Lake TV Society in New Denver for them to rebroadcast our signal from their tower at Carpenter Creek. This signal is now reaching listeners from Hills to Silverton (depending on the location and type of radio being used). Thanks to everyone involve: David, Rick, Tom, Chris, Craig, and the Area H North TV Society, which is the holder of the license to rebroacast our signal.
Kootenay Co-op Radio has succeeded in leaping mountains around Kootenay Lake and the Slocan Valley; Broadcasting at 93.5 fm in Nelson, 96.5 fm in Crawford Bay, and now 107.5 fm in New Denver.
